2020 – new technologies driving change

Deloitte identifies three “exponential technologies” that are currently driving change (here), two of which we have blogged about extensively.

  1. Robotics – the robotics industry will create 3 million new jobs between 2014 and 2020.  Robots will increasingly be autonomous, due to AI.
  2. Additive manufacturing – as we have previously identified, 3D printing will lower costs and increase customisation of goods.
  3. Artificial intelligence (AI) – the exponential growth of computing power, linked to insights from analytics, results in significant advances in AI.  This will be applied in both industrial, commercial and domestic settings.
