Moving from bar code scanning to voice picking

In warehouse management up to 50% of cost is related to picking i.e. the taking of items from storage in order to compile an order.  One of the ways that technology greatly facilitated picking, along with the storage, transportation and sale of goods, has been the bar code.  But in warehouses bar code reading is being replaced by voice activated technology, as this video illustrates.  In the first two minutes, workers explain why they like voice picking, followed by a direct comparison of the two technologies being used.   In the example shown, voice picking is 35% faster than bar code reading.
