Private Label Sourcing Strategy

Deloitte’s have just published a new reportPrivate Label Sourcing: Strategies to Differentiate and Defend – based on  responses from more than 260 executives from apparel, general merchandise and grocery retailers.  The report identifies shifts in market trends and private label sourcing practices.  Private label offers are becoming increasingly important to established retailers, as new online competitors are emerging all the time.  This also means that the products have to be more sophisticated, which means they may need to be sourced from new suppliers.  At the same time, new low cost supply bases are becoming available in  newly emerging economies in south-east asia.  Ironically such growth is also driving up the cost of raw materials, making this one of the retailers’ major concerns.
