A380 flying short haul?

The twin deck A380 is designed to fly large numbers of people on long haul routes around the world.  But as this article explains it is being used by some airlines on short haul routes.  This is a very good example of capacity management.  Airlines make money when their planes are in the air.  So they do want a big investment like the A380 sitting on the ground doing nothing.  By scheduling in some short haul flights Emirates, Thai, China Southern and Korean Air are able to maximise its utilisation.
