BMW checks out if old folks are any good on the production line…

Fascinating article on the BBC Business website about BMW’s ‘Heute für Morgen’ programme.  This involved hiring employees for a new production line who were 8 years older than their average workforce, so their average age was 47.  The reason for this?  They wanted to check out the performance of this older workforce now, because by 2017 the average age of the entire workforce will be higher.  And already new technology has been developed to help older workers to continue working effectively.  Jolly good – we might need it sooner rather than later!
