Servitisation on track

Bombardier have just announced (see press release) a £100 million contract with Virgin Trains to maintain their carriages up to 2016.  This is a good example of servitisation (or servicisation) – a manufacturer generating revenue from services rather than manufacturing.

    The term emerging for this sort of activity is the rather lengthy “through life engineering services”, it is taking MRO (maintenance repair overhaul) to a whole new level
