Manufacturing in the south of the UK

Very interesting article on The Manufacturer website that discusses the location and nature of manufacturing ‘hotspots’ in the whole of southern England.  Food manufacturing is spread throughout the region, electronics and IT is focused around the Thames valley, whilst aerospace is mainly in the south-west around Bristol and Yeovil.

One Response to Manufacturing in the south of the UK

  1. Nick Hussey says:

This goes to the heart of the common misconception that manufacturing is something that only happens in the midland s and northern England. In GDP terms the SE is actually the largest manufacturing region in the UK (see EEF regional surveys). As regards the SW this region is hugely innovative and in terms of advanced manufacturing is very well placed to develop with he new Composites Centre acting as catalyst for clustered growth..
