American healthcare

This article from The Economist looks at how the healthcare system in the USA is being reformed.  It has to be – healthcare represents 18% of Amercian GDP.  This is unsustainable, and insurers in particular are worried about this.  So working with healthcare professionals they are using the data they have to help reduce costs and treat patients more efficiently.  Two initiatives are explain – ‘patient-centred medical homes’ and ‘accountable care organisations’ (ACOs).
